Refund policy

At PeacePod, we want you to feel confident when ordering from us. If something isn't right with your order, we're here to help.

This Returns & Refund Policy applies to purchases made through the PeacePod online store and is intended to operate alongside your rights under applicable South African consumer-protection laws, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or exclude any rights you may have under South African law.

1. Our 15-Day Change-of-Mind Return Policy

If you change your mind about a purchase, you may request a return within 15 calendar days of receiving your order, provided that:

  • The product is unused and in its original condition.
  • The product is returned with its original packaging, accessories and included items.
  • The product has not been damaged, modified or misused.
  • The product is returned in a condition that allows us to reasonably inspect and resell it.

Please contact us before sending anything back so that we can provide you with return instructions.

For change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the product, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Once the returned product has been received and inspected, we will confirm whether it qualifies for a change-of-mind refund.

2. Products That Are Defective or Not as Described

If your product is defective, unsafe, does not meet the required quality standards, or is materially different from what was described, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Protection Act are not limited by our 15-day change-of-mind period.

Under section 56 of the CPA, qualifying goods may be returned within 6 months of delivery where they fail to satisfy the applicable quality requirements. Depending on the circumstances and your choice where the Act provides for it, the remedy may include repair, replacement or a refund.

Where a return is required because the product is defective or otherwise covered by a statutory consumer right, PeacePod will handle the return in accordance with applicable law.

3. Incorrect or Damaged Orders

If you receive:

  • the wrong product;
  • a product that is damaged when delivered;
  • a missing item; or
  • a product that does not correspond with your order,

please contact us as soon as possible after receiving your order.

Please include your order number and, where appropriate, photographs showing the issue.

We will assess the issue and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your rights under applicable law.

4. Online Cooling-Off Rights

South African law provides consumers with certain cancellation rights for qualifying electronic transactions.

Under the ECTA, a consumer may generally cancel a qualifying transaction for goods within 7 days after receiving the goods, without giving a reason and without penalty, subject to the Act's provisions and exclusions. The consumer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods.

PeacePod's 15-day change-of-mind policy provides an additional return period beyond this statutory cooling-off period, subject to the conditions set out in this policy.

5. Items That Have Been Used

For a change-of-mind return, products should be returned unused and in their original condition.

This is particularly important for products that come into close contact with the body or are intended for personal use.

However, this does not remove or restrict your statutory rights in relation to defective, unsafe or otherwise non-conforming goods.

6. Refunds

Once your return has been received and assessed, we will notify you whether the return has been accepted.

Where a refund is due, the refund will generally be made to the original payment method, unless another method is agreed or required by applicable law.

The time it takes for the funds to appear in your account may depend on your bank or payment provider.

7. Exchanges

Where appropriate, we may offer an exchange for the same product or another available product.

If the replacement product has a different price, any resulting payment or refund will be handled accordingly.

Where a consumer is entitled to a particular remedy under South African law, PeacePod will comply with the applicable legal requirements.

9. Your Statutory Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or limited under South African law.

In particular, this policy does not affect applicable rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

One important thing I'd change before putting this live

Because PeacePod sells things like Sleep Balm and DreamBand, I wouldn't put a blanket statement such as "all opened products cannot be returned" into the policy. That could accidentally conflict with a customer's statutory rights if, for example, the product is defective.

Instead, the policy above distinguishes between:

15-day change-of-mind return → unused/original condition

and

Defective/non-conforming product → statutory consumer rights still apply.
